ENFORCING
COMPLIANCE
Possibly, the
most important action individuals may take is to actively participate
in the wetland regulatory process. One way this may be done is by
staying aware of local wetland issues and commenting on individual
Section 404 permits as they become available for public review.
Another way individuals may participate is by being on the alert
for possible illegal fill or draining activities in wetlands and
reporting them to the USEPA or local USACE or USDA/NRCS District
Offices. The contact information for USEPA Region 5 office as well
as the regulatory branches of each of the USACE districts and USDA/NRCS
extension offices in Illinois can all be found in the attached presentation
materials.
