    Salary

    Your salary will be determined by a “step” system based on time in grade, and a progressive system designed to recognize individual achievement. In addition to an annual merit raise, we have liberal provisions to recognize both exceptional performance and promotions.

    Professional Development

  • Come in as a trainee for 7 months
  • CE-I (Promotion with increase in salary)
  • CE-II (Promotion with increase in salary after 12 months as CE I)
  • CE-III (Promotion with increase in salary after 24 months as CE II)

    Time Off

    We also offer liberal vacation and holiday schedules, as well as time off for military duty, educational and disability leaves. New employees begin earning vacation at a rate of 10 days a year, increasing every five years up to 25 days a year. We observe 12 holidays each year, plus three days of personal leave. Sick leave is accrued at the rate of one day per month and may accumulate without limit.

    We encourage employees to continue their education and offer up to 100% reimbursement for approved courses and programs. In addition, IDNR conducts a variety of courses and workshops through its training and development program for engineers and managers.

    Group Insurance

    The Illinois Employees Group Insurance provides comprehensive protection to employees and their dependents at group rates. Coverage includes hospital, surgical and medical coverage including full maternity care, plus many non-hospitalized services at no cost to the employee. Also available at your option are health maintenance programs which are designed to help you stay well by stressing the preventative aspects of health care.

    Retirement

    All IDNR employees are members of the State Employees Retirement System. This program is funded by contributions from the employees and the State. In addition to pension on retirement, the system provides disability income, health and life insurance, and survivor benefits.
