ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS COMPLETED
Project reviews completed from July 15 to August 15 are listed below.
These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review
process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species,
and cultural and archaeological resources etc. Through the review process
it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum
and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for
significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and
may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered
Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands
Policy Act and cultural resource statutes.
- Beaver Dam State Park
0104399 - This project will consist of grading, leveling, widening,
and adding rock to an existing drive that crosses the Rt. 16 #1 prairie.
The new drive will be approximately 12' wide and 50' long. Project was
submitted for review on 6-25-01.
- Pere Marquette State
Park
0104149 - This work involves the rehabilitation and upgrading of the
Graham Hollow Trail at the site. Work items will include the enlargement
of the existing trailhead to accommodate turning trailers, the parking
lots will require minimum grading and tree removal and application of
a gravel surface, a culvert will be placed in the ditch at the south
parking lot, the existing well will be rehabilitated and activated,
a pit toilet will be constructed, and the trail will require tree and
brush removal and gravel overlay. Project was submitted for review on
6-14-01.
- Eagle Creek
0104851 - This project entails the extension of a buried power line
from the emergency generator at the main resort to Eagles Landing. The
line will be bored under all roads and parking areas. Project was submitted
for review on 7-12-01
- Tri-County
0104279 - This project involves the regrading of approximately 8 acres
of park property to provide a smooth transition of land contours with
the adjacent ball fields in the area. The graded area will be planted
with the IDNR's Mesic Prairie Mix. Project was submitted for review
on 6-19-01.
- Turkey Bluffs FWA
0104850 - Under this project the Corps of Engineers will repair dikes
and revetment along the Mississippi River at river mile 105.9. All work
will be accomplished by floating barge, with a dragline mounted on a
barge and the rock placed on it. Project was submitted for review on
7-17-01.
- Hennepin Canal Parkway
0104774 - With this project the City of Colona will develop a parking
lot on DNR property that is leased to them. The lot is needed for canal
users and will consist of a gravel surface with the possibility of oil
and chip being added later. Project was submitted for review on 6-25-01.
- Silver Springs State
Park
0104759 - This project involves the installation of a new pipeline in
areas on the western edge of the park. The location would parallel the
AMOCO Pipeline and be directionally drilled under the Fox River with
a short open cut necessary on the southern portion of the park. Project
was submitted for review on 7-9-01.
- Hennepin Canal Parkway
0104402 - This project involves the rehabilitation and upgrading of
roads and parking lots within the park. Work items will include roads
and parking lots at the Visitor Center Area being upgraded with a bituminous
concrete surface along with 6 other lots along the canal, tree plantings
at various locations, the construction of a new road and parking lot
and the burial of the power lines at Lock 21, and the grading and stabilization
of the severely eroded hillside at Lock 18. Project was submitted for
review on 6-22-01.
- Kinkaid Lake FWA
0104755 - This project consists of the construction of silt basins that
will also serve as fish rearing ponds at three locations at the site.
The silt basins/ponds will be 1.0, 1.6, and 4.2 acres in size. Project
was submitted for review on 7-11-01.
- Sam Dale State Park
0105103 - This project involves the Western Wayne Water District installing
a water main on the south side of the park. The main will parallel the
local township road and be offset from the road ROW in order to avoid
excessive tree removal. Project was submitted for review on 7-23-01.
- Hennepin Canal Parkway
0104401 - This project consists of a volunteer from the Geneseo Izaac
Walton League dredging out a silted-in area in front of the park to
its original design elevation. The spoil will be placed on site in a
use area, leveled, and reseeded. Project was submitted for review on
6-24-01.
- Frank Holton State Park
0102008 - This project involves the installation of 10 dry hydrants
with specialized surface mounts around the site. These hydrants are
to be used in emergency situations for fighting fires. Project was submitted
for review on 3-16-01.
- Hamilton County
0104645 - This project entails the construction of a 13' x 20' primitive
campground cabin within the camping area at the site. Other improvements
will include a concrete sidewalk to connect with the parking area. Project
was submitted for review on 6-25-01.
- William W. Powers
0103961 - This project involves improvements to the sanitary sewer and
lift station at the site. Work items include the replacement of approximately
2000' of sewer pipe, the installation of a new lift station, the restoration
of the electrical power supply, and the construction of a 12' x 12'
x 10' high pre-engineered metal lift station enclosure. Project was
submitted for review on 6-7-01.
- Walnut Point
0104512 - This project involves the construction of a small 16' x 24'
storage building at the concession building at the site. Additional
work items include approximately 30' of buried electrical service and
a short section of sidewalk. Project was submitted for review on 6-27-01.
- Horseshoe Lake (Madison
Co.)
0104510 - This project provides for the installation of a 63' x 35'
set of play equipment and various lengths of 5' wide concrete sidewalk
within the vehicular campground at the site. Project was submitted for
review on 6-27-01.
- Eldon Hazlet State Park
0104509 - This project is the same as the above and is located within
the Apache Day Use Area at Eldon Hazlet. Project was submitted for review
on 6-27-01.
- Randolph County
0104508 - This project is the same as the above and is located near
shelter #5 at Randolph County. Project was submitted for review on 6-27-01.
- Sangchris Lake State
Park
0104507 - This project is the same as the above and is located within
Day Use Area #1 at Sangchris Lake State Park. Project was submitted
for review on 6-27-01.
- Washington County Conservation
Area
0104505 - This project is the same as the above and is located within
the Shady Rest Campground At Washington Co. C. A. Project was submitted
for review on 6-27-01.
- Weinberg King State
Park
0104504 - This project is the same as the above and is located within
the Equestrian Campground at Weinberg King State Park. Project was submitted
for review on 6-27-01.
- Rock Cut State Park
0104282 - This project is the same as the above and is located within
the day use area at Rock Cut State Park. Project was submitted for review
on 6-19-01.
- Buckhorn Ranch
0103807 - This project provides for the construction of new visitor
parking lots at this newly opened site. Development items include: new
10-15 car aggregate parking lots, grading and drainage improvements,
culverts, ditching, entrance signs, information board, concrete wheel
stops and seeding and mulching of disturbed areas. Project was submitted
for review on 5-29-01.
- Wolf Creek
0100393 - This project will provide for the construction of 17 new concrete
block vault toilets at the site. The project also includes sidewalks
to each of the units, demolition and removal of the existing units,
and relocation of existing lighting. Project was submitted for review
on 1-12-01.
- Marshall SFWA
0104281 - This project involves the construction of a 25' x 100' parking
lot that abuts the access road at the site. Project was submitted for
review on 6-19-01.
- Lowden - Miller State
Forest
0104280 - This project involves the construction of a 24' x 36' pole
type building adjacent to the equestrian parking lot to take advantage
of electrical and water service. Work will include a gravel parking
lot for staff parking. Project was submitted for review on 6-19-01.
- Prairie Ridge State
Natural Area
0104277 - This project entails the request by E - J Water Corporation
to install a rural water line across 3 tracts of the site. The line
will follow roadside ditches and not encroach on undisturbed areas.
Project was submitted for review on 6-19-01.
- Stephen A. Forbes State
Park
0104667 - This project includes the seismic testing with a thumper truck
for minerals lying below the site. Privately owned minerals will be
extracted from outside the park by directional drilling. Project was
submitted for review on 2-3-01.
- Little Grassy Fish Hatchery
0104642 - This project consists of replacing and upgrading existing
fish collection kettles, replacing and improving fish hatchery discharge
drains, construction or improving drainage outfall structures at receiving
stream, stream bank stabilization, site drainage improvements, and seeding
and mulching. Project was submitted for review on 6-28-01.
- Kinkaid Lake SFWA
0104754 - This project involves road improvements at the site. Work
item include: right turn lane on Ill. Rt. 149, reconstruction of Marina
Road, replacement of culverts, work on embankment slopes and ditches,
and resurfacing of the entrance road to the Joy Boat Access Area. Project
was submitted for review on 6-29-01.
- I & M Canal
0105517 - This project involves the removal of vegetation at the
Ottawa Radiation Superfund Site in preparation for the remedial action
work that will be undertaken by the Department of Nuclear Safety. Two
sites, totaling 13-15 acres will be affected by the work. Project was
submitted for review on 7-12-01.
- Wayne Fitzgerrell State
Park
01022769 - This project involves the replacement of 10 old, wooden
vault toilet units at the site with new standard concrete block units.
Eight of the new toilets will be located in class A campgrounds and
two are located in the picnic area of the park. Concrete sidewalks will
be provided at the sites of each of the units. Project was submitted
for review on 4-19-01.
