ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS COMPLETED
Project reviews completed from January 15 to February 15 are listed below.
These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review
process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species,
and cultural and archaeological resources etc. Through the review process
it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum
and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for
significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and
may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered
Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands
Policy Act and cultural resource statutes.
- Lake LeAquaNa State
Park
0200272 - This project involves the development of 3 shallow water
impoundments totaling 23 acres in size on the newly acquired 120 acre
Dublin Highlands Pheasant Habitat Area. The impoundments will be created
by constructing low level dams to impound the water to approximately
3' in depth. Project was submitted for review on 1-9-02.
- Big River State Forest
0200271 - This project involves the replacement of an ADA standard vault
toilet that was destroyed in a recent flood. Project was submitted for
review on 1-9-02.
- Hamilton County Conservation
Area
0200276 - This project involves the removal of approximately 40 encroaching
Autumn Olive trees at the site. The Autumn Olive will be hydro-axed,
disced and reseeded to warm season grasses. Project was submitted for
review on 1-3-02.
- Prairie Ridge State
Natural Area
0200273 - This project involves the removal of brush and small scattered
trees from newly acquired lands at the site to encourage their use by
listed grassland birds. Project was submitted for review on 1-8-02.
- Sand Ridge State Forest
0200277 - This proposal involves the Army Aviation Support from facility
#3 to use the military training area at the site. Actions will involve
landing and take off exercises, aviator training, tactical, night vision
devices and external load training. The use of CH 47D/UH-60 helicopters
will be included. Project was submitted for review on 1-4-02.
- Lincoln Trail State
Park
0200453 - This project involves the renovation of the 1972 shower building
at the site along with the complete removal of all existing septic tanks
and leaching fields. One large septic system with tanks and seepage
field will be constructed and the existing facilities connected to it.
Additional work will include the construction of 11 new standard vault
toilets, the replacement of 2 sets of deteriorated play equipment, the
addition of handicapped parking, drinking fountains, and electrical
service to 3 shelters, and the installation of an accessible phone at
the concession building. Project was submitted for review on 1-24-02.
- Green River State Wildlife
Area
0200456 - This project will utilize a rubber-tired hydro-axe to clear
small trees and brush from designated areas and firebreaks to improve
the effectiveness of prescribed burning, to restore degraded and high
quality prairies and wetlands, to improve habitat for breeding grassland
birds, and for listed species management. Project was submitted for
review on 1-22-02.
- Starved Rock State Park
0200069 - This project involves the construction of a small 3-car parking
area off Ill. Rt. 71 for hunter access. Project was submitted for review
on 1-02-02.
- Pyramid State Park
0200454 - This project involves the installation of new overhead primary
electric lines to service the Perry County Industrial Site at the Arch
Minerals property on Pyramid State Park. The Egyptian Electric Coop
will install the approximately 2500 - 2700 of line on DNR property abutting
the right of way of the Pyatts Blacktop. Project was submitted for review
on 1-22-02.
- Pere Marquette State
Park
0200448 - This project entails the establishment of a connector
trail between the old equestrian trail in Camden Hollow and the new
equestrian trail in Graham Hollow. Over half of the connector trail
will be on existing road bed and the remaining portion will include
new trail construction and a low water crossing. Project was submitted
for review on 2-3-02.
- Iroquois County Conservation
Area
0200451 - This project involves the dismantling of a three-sided
40' x 60' shed at Allen Habitat Area and its reconstruction at the Iroquois
County site. Project was submitted for review on 1-31-02.
