ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS COMPLETED
Project reviews completed from April 15 to May 15 are listed below. These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species, and cultural and archaeological resources, etc. Through the review process it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum and mitigated as necessary and that the projects do not meet the criteria for significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands Policy Act, and cultural resource statutes.
Des Plaines River Conservation Area 0001997 -This project involves the repair and resurfacing of all existing park roads, the expansion of the boat launch's car-trailer parking lot, the addition of a two-stall parking lot at a vault toilet location, the construction of a new one way access road through the East Hunting Area, the replacement and addition of new drainage culverts, and gates, signage and landscaping as needed. The project will also include the removal of the Old River Road concrete bridge crossing Prairie Creek and the rehabilitation of the historic pony truss bridge crossing Grant Creek. Project was submitted for review on 3-19-00.
Hennepin Canal Parkway
0002893 -The Sterling Park District which leases certain tracts of the Canal on the Rock
River has requested permission to install a 25' x 20' concrete pad with a 25' x 30' deck south of their existing harbor
house to be used as a trailer concession with picnic tables. Project was submitted for review on 4-10-00.
