ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS
COMPLETED

Project reviews completed from May 15 to June 15 are listed below. These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species, and cultural and archaeological resources etc. Through the review process it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands Policy Act and cultural resource statutes.

Walnut Point State Park

66944 - This project will involve the construction of a new hunter parking lot at the site. The lot will be approximately 45' x 50' and have a rock surface. No earth disturbance or grading will be necessary. Project was submitted for review on 6-99.

I&M Canal

57896 - This project entails the crossing of the I&M Canal by ANR Pipeline Company with a natural gas pipeline. The line will use existing ANR right of way which contains their22 " mainline and a 30"pipeline on ground that has already been disturbed. No additional right of way will be necessary. Project was submitted for review on 9-17-98.

Argyle Lake State Park

66229 - This project involves various ADA improvements to existing facilities at the site. The projects include the installation of accessible ramps and entrances to parking lots, office, concession area, bait shop, boat dock, fishing pier, pit toilets, shelters, grills, water hydrants,campgroundand playground equipment Project was submitted for review on 5-12-99..

Hennepin Canal

66952 - As part of the Sinnissippi Dam reconstruction the Department plans to construct and sign a bike/pedestrian bridge on the top of the dam. The entire length of the project will be 1,068' and contain rail/cage, gates, approach trails and signage, Project was submitted for review on 6-1-99.

Pyramid State Park

66948 - This project involves the spreading of topsoil over acid leaching soil at the park. The topsoil is coming from cropland being used for a IDOT road improvement project and will be spread over open areas approximately 3-5 acres in size. The areas where the soil will be spread a re pre-law strip mine areas that contain highly acidic soils. Project was submitted for review on 6-1-99.

Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park

65902 - The proposed bike trail at the park will require a borrow area for fill material. The location of the borrow site is an abandoned crop field dominated by successional vegetation and the borrow area will be no more than 3 acres in size. Project was submitted for review on 4-29-99.

Trail of Tears State Forest

65898 - This project involves the erection of a 20' x 28' rustic shelter over a 26' x 34' concrete pad adjacent to the ballfield within the day use area at the site. Concrete sidewalks and vault toilets will be constructed adjacent to the shelter along with free standing cooking grills. Project was submitted for review on 4-29-99.
