ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS COMPLETED
Project reviews completed from May 15 to June 15 are listed below. These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species, and cultural and archaeological resources etc. Through the review process it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands Policy Act and cultural resource statutes.

  • Coffeen Lake SFWA
    0100718 - This project involves the expansion of the existing parking lot at the McCracken Cove day use area. The expansion will involve an area of 25' x 50' and a base of CA 6 will be spread over it. Project was submitted for review on 1-26-01.

  • Frank Holten State Park
    0103808 - This project provides for electrical improvements within the Grand Marais Day Use Area at the site. Development items include underground electrical service from School House Road into the day use area, demolition and removal of overhead lines and poles, trenching and backfilling, and mulching and seeding of disturbed areas. Project was submitted for review on 5-29-01.

  • I & M Canal
    0103806 - This project consists of the installation of 250' of 4" high density polyethylene pipe under the canal. The pipe will be installed by directional boring and contain a 48 count fiber optic cable. Project was submitted for review on 5-23-01.

  • Miller Anderson Nature Preserve
    0102221 - This project involves the removal of a dangerous bridge and the relocation of sections of deteriorating trail at the site. Other activities will include the placing of stepping stones at a new stream crossing and the construction of a raised boardwalk and new staircase. Project was submitted for review on 3-26-01.

  • North Point Marina
    0103085 - This project involves the installation of man holes, catch basins, and storm sewer pipes at the North beach and public boat launch parking lots and the overlay of existing aggregate with bituminous concrete and rip rap installation at the North beach parking lot and at the vehicle-boat trailer parking lot. Project was submitted for review on 4-30-01.

  • Wolf Creek State Park
    0101885 - This project involves the construction of a new district office for the Law Enforcement division at the site. The building will be approximately 24' x 30' in size and located to the north of the existing parking area at the park's service area. Project was submitted for review on 1-2-01.

  • Mautino State F&WA
    0103629 - This project will entail the installation of 750' of 6" drain tile through the middle of the sunflower field at the site to facilitate the planting and cropping of sunflowers. Project was submitted for review on 5-23-01.

  • Sanganois SWA
    0102423 - This project involves the rehabilitation of the main Collis Pond levee to a 12' top width and 3:1 side slopes. The existing 36" diameter culvert pipe shall be replaced with two 48" culvert pipes and stop- log structures. Also, a ruptured 36" diameter culvert in the Little Sangamon levee shall be replaced with a 48" culvert pipe and stop-log structure. Project was submitted for review on 4-4-01.

  • Wolf Creek State Park
    0103071 - This project involves the rehabilitation of the existing equestrian trail at the site due to deteriorating drainage conditions. Work items include the installation of culverts, trail grading, development of drainage swales, installation of a rest area, hitching posts, benches, and signage. Project was submitted for review on 4-29-01.

  • Ray Norbut SF&WA
    0102790 - This project involves earthwork that will create an earth berm across a small draw with the addition of a culvert and rock spillway. Project was submitted for review on 4-16-01.

  • Sam Parr State Park
    0102791 - This project involves the removal of approximately 8 acres of autumn olive on the east arm of the lake. The olive will be pushed out using a bulldozer with a root rake. The material will be piled for nesting cover for wildlife. Project was submitted for review on 4-20-01.

  • Sanganois SF&WA
    0102782 - This project involves the construction of a levee across Bach Slough to impound water behind the existing levee. This will allow hunters to access the southern portion of the site without having to pull their boats over the Phase I levee and boat through the refuge at Ash Swale. Project was submitted for review on 4-22-01.

  • Clinton Lake
    0103070 - This project involves the placement of erosion control water bars, retaining walls, and bridges on the hiking trail, and low water crossings and culverts on the equestrian trail to address erosion problems. Benches will be installed on both trails. Project was submitted for review on 4-29-01.

  • Morrison Rockwood State Park
    0103133 - This project involves the replacement and rehabilitation of the existing park water system to bring it into compliance with Public Health standards. Also included is the addition of a trailer dump station for the equestrian area. Project was submitted for review on 5-3-01.

  • Banner Marsh SF&WA
    0103130 - This project involves the removal of invading Honey Locust from a 10 acre tract at the site. The trees will be removed with a small dozer and piled for habitat. Project was submitted for review on 5-3-01.

  • Jim Edgar Panther Creek SF&WA
    0103072 - This project involves work by the IDOT to replace two existing bridges on County Highway 11 over Panther Creek and Cox Creek. In addition, the parking lot for the field trials will be surfaced with an oil and chip surface. Project was submitted for review on 4-29-01.

  • Rock Cut State Park
    0102747 - This project will construct a series of stairs and platforms, construct a trail head, correct erosion problems, remove rogue trails, and install trail markers for the 1- mile Lone Rock Trail. Project was submitted for review on 4-20-01.

  • Weldon Springs State Park
    0103138 - Work to be completed at the site with this project includes the installation of a new trailer dump station, campground host site, five new campsites, information kiosk, flag pole, camp check station, four security gates, five vault toilets, two picnic shelters, new play equipment, and two trail bridges. Project was submitted for review on 5-3-01.

  • Starved Rock State Park
    0103128 - This project involves the resurfacing and upgrading of access roads and existing parking areas off of Canyon Drive at the site. In addition, shoulder, ditch, culvert, and erosion control improvements will also be made. Project was submitted for review on 5-3-01.

  • Beaver Dam State Park
    0002896 - This project involves the complete resurfacing and upgrading of the existing road and parking area system at the site. Development items include the replacement of the "Y" intersection in the Needles Eye Day Use Area with a "T" intersection, and approximately 200' of new road. Project was submitted for review on 4-5-01.

  • Pere Marquette State Park

    0102435, 0101438, 0102439, 0102432 - These projects involve the planting of trees at various locations at the sites referenced above. The trees are being provided by the Department of Transportation as part of their mitigation for tree removal that occurred at road and bridge work locations in that region. Projects were submitted for review on 4-5-01.

  • Horseshoe Lake State Park
    0103805 - This project involves the Illinois State Geological Survey conducting test borings at six sites to obtain a continuous sediment sample of up to 50' or more in depth. In addition, piezometers will be installed at the boring sites for periodic measurements of ground water. Project was submitted for review on 5-30-01.

  • Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park
    0103136 - This project involves the reconstruction and resurfacing of the park road system and Dunloggin Road. Work items include the redesigning and reconstruction of the park area roads, the reconstruction of a concrete box culvert, providing shoulder and ditch work, and the grading and seeding of disturbed areas. Project was submitted for review on 5-3-01.

  • Dickson Mounds State Museum
    0008498 - This project involves the completion of the exterior restoration of the East Waterford Schoolhouse, the construction of a 20' x 30' patio adjacent to the concession, the construction of an outdoor amphitheater including seating for 100-150 people, the construction of a 36' x 75' service building with office space and a break room, and the addition of appropriate signage. Project was submitted for review on 11-7-00.

  • Rock Island Trail
    0103809 - This project involves the Chiquita Canning Factory installing an 8" drain tile and an 8" force main for their irrigators across the trail. The two lines will be side by side in the same trench. Project was submitted for review on 5-29-01.
