ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS COMPLETED
Project reviews completed from June 15 to July 15 are listed below. These
projects have been screened through the internal environmental review
process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species,
and cultural and archaeological resources etc. Through the review process
it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum
and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for
significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and
may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered
Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands
Policy Act and cultural resource statutes.
- I & M Canal
0104641 - This project involves the relocation of the utilities that
are attached to the Ill. Rt. 351 bridge underground within a 24"
steel casing. The casing will be 197' long and contain nine 4"
ducts. Project was submitted for review on 6-28-01.
- Golconda Marina
0104757 - This project will consist of the construction of a new parking
lot for 32 car/trailer combinations. The lot will be approximately 1.5
acres in size and has been used for temporary parking for special events
in the past. Project was submitted for review on 7-10-01.
- I & M Canal
0104148 - This project consists of the relocation of a 2 mile section
of the Illinois & Michigan Canal State Trail from the canal prism
to the north canal bank because of flooding problems. The new trail
will consist of CA 6 rock covered with limestone screening. Project
was submitted for review on 6-14-01.
- Piney Creek Ravine Nature
Preserve
0101007 - Work items involved with this project will include the construction
of an 8-10' x 3' bridge along the access trail in the buffer zone, and
interpretive signing along the trail and at the rock art at the site.
Project was submitted for review on 2-10-01.
- Middle Fork FWA
0100397 - This project includes the rehabilitation and upgrading of
township roads within the park. Work items will consist of resurfacing,
ditch cleaning, culvert replacement, expanded parking, and minor realignment.
Project was submitted for review on 1-12-01.
- Mazonia Braidwood
0103958 - As with the project above, the internal roads within the site
will be rehabilitated and upgraded. Work items include resurfacing all
roads, parking lots,
and boat ramp maneuvering areas. Also included is the
new construction of approximately 2.0 miles of new roads with pull offs
and a 20 car parking lot. Project was submitted for review on 6-7-01.
- Ray Norbut State F&WA
0104188 - This project involves the expansion and improvement of a parking
area at the new land acquisition site. Work would include the removal
of brush and saplings by mowing and the addition of a gravel surface.

01.
- Clinton Lake
0103964 - This project consists of the construction of a new six car
parking lot for fishing access along Rt. 10 at the site. The lot will
have a bituminous concrete surface and guard rail will be installed
between the lot and the lake for safety. Project was submitted for review
on 6-6-01.
- Clinton Lake
0103962 - This project will improve drainage along the south side of
the entrance road to Weldon Access area at the site by deepening the
roadside ditch for approximately 350' and then a new ditch cut south
to connect to a natural drainage way. Project was submitted for review
on 6-6-01.
- I & M Canal
0103632 - This project will consist of the placement of an earthen coffer
dam into the canal to facilitate the construction of a new bridge over
the Illinois River in Morris. The dam will be removed upon completion
of construction. Project was submitted for review on 5-18-01.
- Hennepin Canal
0008283 - This project consists of the total replacement of the flush
box on Culvert #29 with a new concrete structure. The existing tainter
gate, which has been inoperative for several years and is no longer
necessary, will be removed and salvaged for future historic display.
Project was submitted for review on 12-17-00.
- Shabbona Lake
0008268 - This project consists of the removal of approximately 7 acres
of exotic trees and shrubs from the site. The removed material will
be burned and buried and the entire area planted to native grasses.
Project was submitted for review on 12-23-01.
