  Best Management Practices for Trapping

Illinois DNR worked with other state fish and wildlife agencies to develop Best Management Practices (BMPs) regulating trapping in the United States.

Best Management Practices help identify techniques and traps that address the welfare of trapped animals and allow for the efficient, selective, safe and practical capture of furbearers.

Best Management Practices

BMPs are available for the following species:
Introduction
Weasels
Beavers
Coyotes
Gray Fox
Muskrat
Opossum
Raccoon
Red Fox
Striped Skunk
