Abandoned Mined Land
Reclamation
The Abandoned
Mined Lands and Water Reclamation Act (20 ILCS 1920) provides
for the reclamation of lands and waters affected by coal mining which have
been abandoned, and satisfies the requirements of federal law to obtain
funds for reclamation of such lands and waters.
The Coal
Mining Act (225 ILCS 705) governs the working conditions and
atmospheres in the state's underground and surface mines to ensure the
health and safety of thousands of workers in the mining industry.

The Surface
Mined-Land Conservation and Reclamation Act (225 ILCS 715) provides for
the conservation and reclamation of lands affected by aggregate (non-coal)
mining as well as the control of environmental impacts from blasting,
training, examination, and licensing of blasting supervisors.
The Illinois
Oil and Gas Act (225 ILCS 725) provides for the conservation of oil and
gas resurces throught the protection of correlative rights, proper well
spacing, integration and aunitization of mineral interests; and for the
regulation of the dirlling, contruction, operation, and plugging of oil and
gas production wiells, Class II Injection wells, and gas storgae wells; the
operation and maintenance of oil production facilities; the permitting of
mineral and structure test holes and mining related groundwater monitoring
wells; and the handling, transportation and disposal of oilfield wastes.
