  • Overburden Stripping
  • Drilling and Shooting
  • Pit Coal Loading
  • Reclamation
Candidates for Surface Mine Supervisor Must:
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Document 2 Years Practical Surface Mine Experience
  • Be of Good Repute and Temperate Habits
  • Document First Aid & Mine Rescue Training
  • Pass Examination
Documents Needed:
  • Application
  • 5000-23 or Equivalent Verification of 1st Aid & Mine Res.
Temporary Available If:
  • Application Completed
  • Equivalent out of State Certification Documented
  • 2 Years Experience Documented
  • State Mine Inspector Signs Application
  • Pass Temporary Examination
  • Temporary Valid Until Next Available Exam
Course Materials:
  • Classes Available (Not Mandatory)
  • Coal Mining Act & Health & Safety Regs.
