Methods of Underground Coal Mining

CRP: Checkerboard Room and Pillar

In the checkerboard method, rooms are 15-25 feet wide and 1000 or more feet long. Pillar width is 40-60 feet for room pillars and 100-150 feet for barrier pillars. Panel extraction ranges from 40 to 60%.
