The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for the preservation and restoration of wildlife habitat and for providing hunting opportunity for the residents of this state. The Clifton Pheasant Habitat Area was developed with cooperation of the Kankakee County Chapter of Pheasants Forever. The area provides high quality permanent habitat for ring-necked pheasants and hunting opportunity for Illinois sportsmen. The site is a satellite of Iroquois County Wildlife Area.
LOCATION: This area is one mile north and 1.5 miles east of Clifton on County Road 3000 N. In north central Iroquois County.

The total area of the site is 80 acres. 79 acres is open to hunting. Cover types include brome, orchard grass and clovers (44.8 acres) and Mixed native prairie grasses and forbs ( 34.7 acres).
SEASONS, HOURS, LIMITS:
Pheasant, rabbit and quail hutning is be free Permit Only. Permits are issued for the first and second day of the statewide upland game season and on each subsequent Wednesday and Saturday in November and on each Thursday and Sunday in December, through December 24. Hunting hours are until 4:00pm and limits are statewide.
OTHER SPECIAL REGULATIONS:
Grassland habitat renovation will be occurring on the area. These activities are designed to improve pheasant habitat.
