Visit the existing remains of canal Locks # 9 & 10 in Marseilles. To reach the Locks: From Rte. 6 turn south on Chicago St. Follow Chicago St. approximately three and a half blocks, it will cross directly over the canal. Lock #9 will be located within viewing distance to the left and Lock #10 to the right.

These historic locks raised and lowered boats to the appropriate water level on their journey between LaSalle/Peru and Chicago. The locks were built of solid limestone and hydraulic cement found in the area was used as mortar.
