2011 - 2012 Season

INTRODUCTION: The area is managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, which is responsible for providing outdoor recreation opportunities for the residents of this State. This area is rolling with steep hills and deep hollows, covered with mature timber of oak-hickory type. The entire area is well supplied with water from springs interspersed throughout the area.

SITE REGULATIONS FOR OPEN AREA: (East of Graham Hollow Road - See map for area)

  1. Free Site Hunting Permits (windshield cards) are required for species as noted. These are available online at www.dnr.illinois.gov. Navigate to hunting/trapping and then public hunting areas to print these permits. Hunters will be required to return to this website prior to February 15th each year to record harvest information. Failure to submit data will result in loss of hunting privileges for the following year.
  2. Hunting is restricted to that portion of the park posted as open to hunting. No hunting within 100 yards of any road or private dwelling.
  3. All hunting is to be with shotgun or bow and arrow only. No rifles at any time.
  4. When hunting, all vehicles must be parked at designated areas or along road shoulders. Driving on fire trails is prohibited.
  5. No night hunting, trapping, target or trap shooting is allowed.
  6. It is unlawful to construct or use any tree stand using nails, screws, wire, or any device which pierces or cuts the bark of the tree. Portable stands may be left unattended from September 15 - January 31, and must be legibly marked with the hunter's name, address, and telephone number. Only one tree stand is allowed per deer permit holder.
  7. It is unlawful to drive deer or participate in a deer drive on this property.
  8. It is unlawful to possess any alcoholic beverages while hunting on this area.
  9. It is unlawful for unauthorized persons to use or occupy this area during any hunting season when authorized hunting is in progress.

SITE REGULATIONS FOR PERMIT AREAS: (Group Camps - See map for areas):

Spring Turkey Hunting:

  1. Hunters must apply using the Turkey Permit Application available for the IDNR Permit Office in Springfield or online at http://www.dnr.state.il.us/admin/turkey.htm You must select "Pere Marquette" rather than "Jersey County"
  2. No weekend hunting is allowed.

Fall Archery Deer Hunting:

  1. Hunting is limited to four seasons, each approximately one week.
  2. A total of 60 hunters will be selected by a random drawing, held at the Visitor Center on the first working day in April.
  3. Applications are available in March at the visitor center or online at http://www.dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/parks/R4/Peremarq.htm

OTHER SITE FACILITIES: Trailer and tent camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, boating, horseback riding, restaurant and lodging.
