NAME: WALNUT POINT STATE PARK
LOCATION: Three miles north of Oakland on County Highway 7. Also, follow direction signs from U.S. Route 36 two miles west of Newman.
DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA:
TOTAL ACRES: 671 OPEN ACRES: 10 HUNTABLE ACRES: 573 TIMBERED ACRES: 602
Walnut Point includes numerous wooded ravines on and along the upper Embarras River. Various species of mature hardwoods dominate the park’s 602 wooded acres. A 60-acre fishing lake is also on site. Other site facilities and programs are camping, picnicking, hiking and a seasonal concession operation w/ boat rental.

SITE REGULATIONS:
* No hunting within
100 yards of roads and residences
* Know your location: Check signs, maps or with site personnel if you are
unsure of park, wildlife management
areas and nature preserve boundaries
* Hunter Parking: Only use park and wildlife management area parking lots
* Camping is not allowed in the wildlife management areas
