2012 - 2013 Season

Description: Total Acres 1361. Huntable Acres: 862. Habitat types: Timber - 100 acres, Brush - 100 acres, Grass or cultivated acres - 650. The area is one of gently rolling topography. Much of the area consists of grassy areas interspersed with cultivated fields, brushy draws, and small woodlots. This area provides excellent hunting opportunity for the common game species found in northwestern Illinois.

All regulations found in the Illinois Wildlife Code, Federal Regulations and Administrative Orders will apply unless area regulations are more restrictive.

SPECIAL AREA REGULATIONS:

1. Statewide except closed Mondays and Tuesdays, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The Illinois Youth Pheasant Hunt is the first Sunday in the season (permit required). Youth hunting opportunities are the Sunday after Thanksgiving and the Friday after Christmas. Controlled pheasant hunting may be subject to early closure. Contact site for details.
2. A manned check station is available during the upland game season. Hunters must check in and out of that station. Permits are available at dnr.illinois.gov. Permit holders must be present. A drawing will be held at the conclusion of the check-in time.
3. Check-in: 8 AM, Drawing: 8:30 AM, Hunting: 9 AM - 4 PM. Thanksgiving Day: 9AM - 1 PM.
4. A fee is charged for hunting during the controlled pheasant season.
5. Daily hunter quota. Quota filled with 90% permit and 10% drawing. Quota refills are not allowed. When daily quotas are not filled at the conclusion of the drawing, hunters may register from 11:45 AM until noon, unless an earlier time is posted at the site’s hunter check station.
6. Hunting is restricted to those areas posted as open to hunting. Hunters with weapons are not allowed in the field except during hunting hours.
7. Hunters must hunt in assigned areas until 10 AM. All fields must be cleared and game checked in by 4:00  PM.
8. Hunters engaged in hunting pheasant, quail, rabbit, or partridge are required to wear a cap and upper outer garment of solid and vivid blaze orange of at least 400 square inches.
9. Non-toxic shot only! Only non-toxic shot (as defined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 50 CFR 20), size #3 or smaller steel, #4 or smaller bismuth, # 5 or smaller tungsten-iron, tungsten polymer, or tungsten-matrix shot may be possessed. Only flu flu arrows may be used by bow and arrow hunters.
10. Pheasant - 2 (either sex may be harvested), bobwhite quail - 8, Hungarian partridge - 2, rabbit - 4.

1. To park in any area no designated as being open to hunting.
2. To park anywhere on the site except in the designated parking lots & for unauthorized vehicles to enter upon any trail.
3. To hunt with other than a shotgun or bow & arrow with flu flu arrows
4. For any person to consume any alcoholic beverage or illegal drug or to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while on the area for the purpose of hunting.
