LOCATION: 11 miles southwest of Vandalia; 27 miles northeast of Carlyle; 10 miles southeast of Mulberry Grove in the southwest corner of Fayette County.

SATELLITE: East Fork Management Unit (394 acres) - CR #3 - Boulder Road - northeast of Boulder in Clinton County.

DESCRIPTION: Total acres: 9914

Open water/wetland acres: 5802 Grassland acres: 200
Woodland acres: 2392  Cropland/food plot acres: 1500

Carlyle Lake State Fish & Wildlife Area is made up of over 400 upland acres and nearly 9500 bottomland acres. Primary hunting activity is for waterfowl.

1 Hunters are required to wear a cap and upper outer garment of solid and vivid blaze orange of at least 400 square inches.

2 Subimpoundment area is closed to hunting other species seven days prior to and during the south-central zone waterfowl season.

3 Turkey and deer archery hunting are not allowed during the firearm deer seasons.

4 Non-toxic shot (#6 steel shot or #7 ˝ bismuth shot or smaller) required in the subimpoundment area.

5 Hunters are required to sign in prior to hunting and sign out prior to exiting the area at the nearest registration box located at the access parking lots.

6 No trespassing in the subimpoundment area seven days prior to the southern zone waterfowl season.

7 Only walk-in hunting and hunting with boats without motors shall be permitted in the subimpoundment area. No one may enter the subimpoundment area before 4:30 AM or remain in the area after 3:00 PM each day of the waterfowl hunting season.

8 During archery deer season -- hours ˝ hour before sunrise to ˝ hour after sunset.

9 .22 rimfire firearms permitted from sunset to sunrise.

10 Requires site permit from Site Superintendent.

11Carlyle Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area in Fayette County Requires a Fayette County Youth Deer Permit. East Fork Manangement Unit - requires a Clinton County Youth Deer Permit.

12 East Fork Management unit - Clinton County . Regular Firearm and Muzzleloader deer seasons - requires a deer permit from the deer permit office - select site on the application. Late Winter Deer Season requires a Clinton County unfilled Youth Permit, or an unfilled Site or Clinton County regular Firearm or Muzzleloader permit, or a late winter Clinton County Deer Permit.

13 East Fork Management unit - Clinton County - requires a site specific Spring shotgun turkey permit from the permit office.

TEMPORARY BLINDS AND STANDS ONLY - NO CAMPING IS ALLOWED ON THE SITE.
