Lending Trunks

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Education has lending resources trunks available for formal and non-formal educators. Each resource trunk is a large plastic container filled with supplemental items to enhance your lessons. Trunks are available on nine different topics: "Aquatic Illinois," "Illinois Birds," "People and Animals from Illinois’ Past," "Illinois’ Insects and Spiders," "Illinois Fossils," "Illinois Prairies," "Illinois' State Symbols," "Illinois Trees" and "Illinois Wild Mammals."

Items included vary with the topic. For instance, the “Illinois Wild Mammals” trunk is full of skulls, furs, rubber tracks, and lots of other useful information. All trunks contain posters, videos, CD-ROMs, field guides, books and more items.

Educators can borrow the lending trunks from locations throughout Illinois. Please go to our Web site at http://dnr.state.il.us/education, then select “Items for Loan.” On this page you can choose the trunk you are interested in and find the locations where the trunk is available for check out. A two-week loan period is suggested.
