AESTHETICS AND RECREATION

Wetlands are beautiful and offer visitors seclusion and tranquility. They provide observers a vast array of plant and animal life to identify and enjoy. They also offer various consumptive and non-consumptive recreational opportunities such as: hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, and wildlife photography. Each of these uses is based in the overall ecology of the wetlands (Illinois Department of Natural Resources 1997).
