HUNTING REGULATIONS
1. Severe weather
and safety conditions can result in closing all or part of the lake.
2. It will be unlawful
to possess or consume alcoholic beverages while hunting in the area.
3. Hunters under
16 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
AREA REGULATIONS - WATERFOWL
- All hunters using these
areas must report to the check station to complete information cards and to
turn in hunting licenses (or Firearm Owners Identification Card, if exempt
from having a hunting license) before proceeding to blinds.
- Registered builders (or
partners) must report to the check station at 5 a.m. each day. Blinds not
claimed will be assigned by draw until 9:00 a.m. All hunting will be from
registered blind sites (or within 10ft. of a stake) and hunters must occupy
sites within one (1) hour after registering at the check station.
- All hunting will cease
at 1:00 p.m. and all hunters using these lake must report to the check station
within one (1) hour. At this time ducks bagged will be checked in and hunting
licenses (or Firearm Owners Identification Cards) will be returned.
- All parties must hunt
over a minimum of 12 decoys of at least standard size.
- The site will be open
to any goose hunting seasons that occur before duck season and closed for
any seasons that occur after duck season.
- Early goose and teal
hunters are not restricted to blind sites. Limit of 200 hunters per day, 100
yards between hunting parties for teal season and any early seasons.
- Teal hunting will be
allowed only on Rice Lake, Copperas Creek Management Unit, Big Lake and the
Walk-in hunting area.
- Hunting will take place
on alternating days in the Copperas Creek, Rice Lake and Big Lake Walk-in
areas.
- The lake will be closed
to boating and boat fishing October 1st through the regular waterfowl
season, except for legal waterfowl hunting. The lake will re-open on April
1.
- AT NO TIME are hunters
permitted to enter the waterfowl refuge unless given permission by Department
personnel in charge of this area.
