Location:
Henry County - 6 miles north of Kewanee and 6 miles south of Interstate 80 on
Highway 78.
Description:
Total Acres 1361. Huntable Acres: 862. Habitat types: Timber - 100 acres, Brush
- 100 acres, Grass or cultivated acres - 650. The area is one of gently rolling
topography. Much of the area consists of grassy areas interspersed with cultivated
fields, brushy draws, and small woodlots. This area provides excellent hunting
opportunity for the common game species found in northwestern Illinois.

in the Illinois Wildlife Code, Federal Regulations and Administrative Orders
will apply unless area regulations are more restrictive.
SPECIAL AREA REGULATIONS:
- Hunters are encouraged to go to the site office and obtain a free permit. All hunters are required
to check in prior to hunting and to check out and report their harvest
immediately after concluding the hunt. All deer harvested must also
be checked in / reported as outlined in the Statewide rules & regulations
for reporting deer harvested during the regular statewide deer seasons.
- Hunting is restricted
to those areas posted as open to hunting. Hunters with weapons are not allowed
in the field except during hunting hours.
- Statewide opening through the day before the statewide pheasant opening; statewide season. Statewide pheasant opening through the last day of the statewide season the site is open for pheasant hunting: Mondays & Tuesdays only. The day after the site closes for pheasant hunting through statewide close: statewide season.
- Coyote & turkey may
be taken by bow & arrow while archery deer hunting during the site archery
deer season (see #3). Statewide permit required to hunt turkeys.
- Fox may be taken by bow
& arrow while archery deer hunting (See #3) during the period that the
statewide fox season is open.
- Lake Shore Raod closes every year on November 1st and does not reopen until May 1st. Be aware of this in case you have used this road to place a tree stand.
- Further restrictions
may exist. See posted regulations before hunting.
IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL:
- To construct or use any
tree stand or accessory using nails, screws or any device which pierces or
cuts the bark of the tree on which it is installed.
Only one stand allowed per hunter. Stands must be portable, may be erected
September 15, and must be removed by sunset on January 31. Tree stands left
unattended must be marked with the owner's name, address, and telephone number.
- To hunt in any area not
designated as being open to hunting.
- To park anywhere on the
site except in the designated parking lots & for unauthorized vehicles
to enter upon any trail.
- To hunt with other than
a shotgun or bow & arrow.
- For any person to consume
any alcoholic beverage or illegal drug or to be under the influence of alcohol
or illegal drugs while on the area for
the purpose of hunting.
