Flood Studies

Flood engineering studies that have been reviewed and approved by the State of Illinois or FEMA will be included in the new county maps. The following will be prioritized for possible inclusion in this map update:

• Flood studies that have been submitted for review but are not yet approved

• Flood studies that have been completed, but not submitted for review

• Ongoing studies not yet complete

Future Flood Studies

Part of this mapping process is to collect information for FEMA about local mapping issues even if they cannot be resolved in this map update. These include:

• Areas where flood risk needs to be identified (never studied); for example, developing areas

• Areas where risk needs to be refined because of changes in hydrology or hydraulics

• Any other community flood mapping issue including new flood studies that were not incorporated due to time constraints
