Union Schoolhouse
Before and after the
move and restoration
 |
Here's a 1987 photo of how the Union School building
had deteriorated after many years of neglect. Notice the boarded up
windows, the sagging porch, curled clapboards, and more than a little
fading of the paint. Pictured on its original site in Logan County,
a great adventure would be in store for this remnant of educational
history. |

In this photo, taken
on July 22, 1988, the school house has traveled several miles
to enter the Weldon Springs park area. Lots of volunteers had put in many hours of hard work to
get the old school this far and much hard work remained. |
| Now, here are three front and one
back view of what the school looks like today. After lots more hard
work on the part of dedicated community volunteers to repair, replace,
and repaint the building, it looks ready for a group of students
to come on in and start their lessons. |
